Trading into Europe

Bringing your product into the EU market correctly.

Selling into Spain and the European Union is not simply a logistics exercise. It requires the right import structure, the right compliance framework, the right commercial partners, and a distribution strategy built for how European buyers actually make purchasing decisions. Getting any one of these wrong adds cost, delays, and reputational friction that is difficult to undo.

We manage the commercial and operational dimensions of getting your product into the EU market. From import compliance and CE marking to distributor identification and trade fair representation, our on-ground presence in Bilbao means we are executing alongside you, not advising remotely from another continent. Spain is our primary market, and our deepest commercial network is here. A product established in Spain has immediate access to the entire EU single market.

Six Service Lines

From your origin market to the European shelf.

Six integrated service lines covering every stage of getting your product into Spain and the EU. We handle as much or as little as you need, depending on where you are in your European entry journey.

01

EU Import Compliance and Certification

Every product entering the EU market must satisfy its specific compliance requirements. We map the obligations for your product category: CE marking, food safety standards, pharmaceutical and wellness regulatory pathways, labelling requirements, and CBAM obligations for carbon-intensive goods.

  • CE marking and product conformity assessment
  • EU food safety and labelling requirements
  • CBAM compliance for covered import categories
  • Import licensing and sector-specific approvals
02

Distributor and Import Partner Identification

We identify and vet Spanish and EU distributors, importers, and commercial agents who are a genuine fit for your product. Every candidate is personally verified: legal standing, trade references, current portfolio, actual purchasing authority, and confirmed interest before you invest time in a first meeting. We attend that first meeting with you.

03

Market Entry Strategy and Channel Planning

The right channel strategy for Spain depends on your product category, your price point, and how Spanish buyers make decisions in your sector. We map the commercial landscape, identify the most productive entry channels, assess the competitive environment, and build a structured go-to-market plan with realistic milestones rather than optimistic projections.

04

Trade Fair Representation in Spain

Spain hosts some of Europe's most commercially productive trade fairs. Alimentaria in Barcelona for food and beverage, BIEMH in Bilbao for industrial manufacturing, FITUR for tourism, and SIMA for real estate are among the key events where we represent clients and facilitate buyer meetings.

  • Stand coordination and logistics management
  • Buyer meeting facilitation and scheduling
  • Commercial follow-up in the weeks after the event
  • Cultural and language support throughout
05

Product Documentation and Trade Compliance

Getting documentation right is not optional in European trade. We coordinate the complete commercial documentation package for your EU exports: product certifications, certificates of origin, customs documentation, labelling compliance for the Spanish market, and any sector-specific permits. Documentation errors at EU customs are costly and reputationally damaging.

06

Commercial Representation and Relationship Management

For companies that need a permanent commercial presence in Spain without a full local team, we act as your on-ground representative. We attend buyer meetings, manage distributor relationships, follow up on leads, and report back monthly on commercial activity, market intelligence, and any developments requiring your attention.

Strongest Product Sectors

Categories where our Spanish network runs deepest.

Our commercial relationships in Spain are most active in these categories. If your product is not listed here, contact us. Our network is broader than what is shown and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Food and Agricultural Products Spanish buyers have strong demand for authentic international food products, spices, organic ingredients, specialty foods, pulses, and commodity grains. We connect suppliers with importers, supermarket buyers, and food service distributors.
Industrial Components and Manufacturing Goods Bilbao and the Basque Country is one of Europe's most active industrial zones. Indian and international manufacturers of components, castings, engineering goods, and industrial inputs have strong commercial opportunity here.
Technology and IT Services Spanish companies across industries are actively seeking international technology partners, software teams, and digital transformation providers. Spain's digital economy programmes are creating sustained demand.
Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, and Wellness Products European demand for Ayurvedic formulations, herbal supplements, and international pharmaceutical generics is growing. We coordinate with EU-registered regulatory specialists for the compliance pathway.
Agricultural Inputs and Agri-Tech Spain is one of Europe's largest agricultural producers. International agri-tech companies, seed producers, crop protection specialists, and agricultural inputs suppliers have a receptive and commercially active buyer base here.

Common Questions

Trading into Europe. Answered.

What exporters and manufacturers ask us before starting their European trade engagement.

What certifications does my product need to enter the Spanish or EU market?
It depends significantly on the product category. For manufactured goods, CE marking is typically mandatory. For food products, EU food safety regulations apply, including Spanish-language labelling, allergen declarations, nutritional information, and health certificates. For products covered by CBAM (steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, hydrogen), carbon declaration obligations apply from 2026. We map the specific certification requirements for your product before any trade engagement begins.
How long does it take to get a product established in the Spanish market?
A realistic first-year timeline for a new product entering Spain runs as follows: two to four weeks for compliance mapping and documentation assessment; four to eight weeks for distributor identification and vetting; four to twelve weeks for commercial negotiation and first purchase order; and a further three to six months before a distribution relationship is generating consistent reorders. The businesses that get frustrated with Spain are usually those expecting faster timelines than the market realistically offers.
Can you help with trade fair participation in Spain as a foreign company?
Yes. We manage the full trade fair process for international companies: stand booking and logistics coordination, meeting scheduling with pre-identified buyers before the event, on-site commercial representation, and structured follow-up in the weeks after. Attending a Spanish trade fair without local commercial support and language capability is significantly less productive than having a trusted representative present throughout.
Do we need our own legal entity in Spain to sell into the EU market?
No, not initially. A foreign company can sell into Spain and the EU through an import partner or distributor who handles the EU import formalities. However, if you want to build a direct market presence, manage relationships without an intermediary, or access EU public procurement, having a Spanish legal entity becomes commercially important. We advise on the right structure and timeline for making that transition based on your revenue trajectory in the market.
Sourcing from Europe

Europe produces goods that the world wants to buy.

European manufacturers, producers, and technology companies operate at the intersection of quality, regulation, and heritage. For Indian and international buyers looking to bring European goods into their home markets, the challenge is not finding what exists. It is identifying the right supplier, understanding European export frameworks, navigating import compliance at destination, and building a supply relationship that holds over time.

Our base in Bilbao puts us at the centre of one of Europe's most industrially productive regions. The Basque Country is home to advanced manufacturing, food and beverage production, agri-technology, and a dense network of mid-market exporters who rarely appear in trade directories but produce some of Europe's most competitive goods. We open that network for our clients.

Six Service Lines

From the European producer to your destination market.

Six integrated service lines for buyers who want to source goods from Europe with full commercial and compliance support from identification through to delivery.

01

European Supplier Identification and Vetting

We search our commercial network across Spain and the broader EU to identify producers and manufacturers who genuinely match your sourcing specification. Every shortlisted supplier is verified: legal standing, export capability, current certifications, production capacity, and track record with international buyers before any introduction is made.

02

Sample Coordination and Product Evaluation

We coordinate sample shipments from European producers to your location, manage the logistics of getting representative samples to you, and where required arrange third-party testing through accredited European laboratories. We document approved specifications in writing before any commercial order is placed, protecting you at every stage.

03

Commercial Negotiation and Contract Support

We negotiate price, payment terms, Incoterms, and minimum order quantities on your behalf, benchmarked against current European market rates. For buyers unfamiliar with European commercial practices, we translate the terms of engagement and ensure your contract reflects what was agreed rather than what was assumed.

04

Export Documentation and Trade Compliance

We coordinate the full export documentation package from the European side: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, EUR.1 movement certificates, phytosanitary and health certificates where applicable, and any destination-specific import permits your market requires. Documentation gaps are the most common cause of shipment delays at destination customs.

  • Certificates of origin and EUR.1 certificates
  • Health and phytosanitary certificates
  • Destination import permit coordination
  • Labelling review for destination market requirements
05

Pre-Shipment Inspection and Quality Control

We conduct on-site pre-shipment inspections at the supplier's facility before goods are loaded. The commercial lot is compared against the approved sample and specification. For food and agricultural goods, we arrange third-party laboratory testing for residue levels, nutritional parameters, and contaminant standards relevant to your destination market.

06

Logistics and Ongoing Supplier Management

We coordinate freight forwarding, container booking, and port procedures at Spanish and EU export points, with shipment tracking through to destination. For buyers who want to build a recurring supply relationship rather than manage individual transactions, we act as your permanent on-ground interface with the European supplier.

Product Categories

What our clients source from Europe.

These are the categories where our European supplier network is most active and where inbound sourcing enquiries from India and other international markets are strongest.

Olive Oil and Spanish Food Products Spain is the world's largest producer of olive oil. Indian demand for premium European food products including olive oil, wines, cured meats, cheeses, and specialty ingredients is growing rapidly. We source directly from producers and cooperatives in Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Basque Country.
Industrial Machinery and Components The Basque Country and northern Spain produce machine tools, precision components, industrial equipment, and manufacturing inputs that are globally competitive. Indian manufacturers and capital goods importers looking for European-grade industrial sourcing have a strong supplier base here.
Agri-Technology and Precision Agriculture Spanish agri-tech companies produce irrigation systems, greenhouse technology, crop protection solutions, and precision agriculture equipment that transfer directly to Indian agricultural conditions. Spain's Mediterranean climate and water-scarcity context makes its agri-tech particularly relevant for Indian buyers.
Pharmaceutical Raw Materials and Nutraceuticals European pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers operate under some of the world's strictest quality standards. Indian pharmaceutical companies and supplement brands sourcing from Europe benefit from GMP-certified production, established regulatory documentation, and consistent quality across batches.
Renewable Energy Technology Spain is one of Europe's leading markets for solar, wind, and energy storage technology. Spanish and European renewable energy equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors, and technology providers offer competitive solutions for Indian buyers active in the energy transition.
Construction Materials and Design Products Spanish ceramic tiles, natural stone, sanitary ware, and design-led building materials are among Europe's most exported construction products. Indian architects, developers, and interior specification buyers increasingly reference Spanish and Italian European suppliers for premium residential and hospitality projects.

Common Questions

Sourcing from Europe. Answered.

What Indian and international buyers ask us before beginning their European sourcing engagement.

Can we source directly from European manufacturers or do we need to go through a distributor?
In most cases, direct sourcing from the manufacturer is possible and preferable on price. However, many European producers have minimum order requirements, prefer to work through established trade channels for new markets, and require a degree of commercial confidence before engaging a first-time buyer from a distant market. We provide that commercial introduction and manage the relationship through to first shipment, after which direct communication can be established.
What are the minimum order quantities for sourcing from Spain or Europe?
It varies significantly by product category and supplier type. For agricultural commodities and food products, most Spanish exporters require a minimum of one full container load. For industrial goods and manufactured components, minimum orders are negotiated based on specification and production run economics. For premium food and specialty products, many producers are willing to supply smaller initial orders to establish a trade relationship, particularly when backed by a credible commercial intermediary.
What documentation is required to import European goods into India?
The standard documentation set includes: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin (EUR.1 for preferential tariff treatment under trade agreements), and product-specific certificates such as phytosanitary certificates for agricultural goods or health certificates for processed food products. For goods subject to BIS certification or FSSAI requirements in India, we coordinate the relevant documentation from the European export side and advise on Indian import permit requirements for your product category.
How do you ensure the product we receive matches what we agreed?
Quality deviation between sample and commercial shipment is the most common problem in international sourcing. We address it through three steps. First, we document the approved sample specification in writing as part of the supply contract. Second, we conduct a pre-shipment physical inspection at the supplier's packing facility before loading. Third, for food and regulated goods we arrange third-party laboratory testing through accredited European labs, with results provided before the shipment leaves port.
How long does shipment from Spain or Europe to India take?
Sea freight from Spanish ports including Valencia, Barcelona, and Bilbao to major Indian ports including Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Chennai typically takes 20 to 30 days depending on routing and whether direct or transhipment services are available for your cargo type. Air freight is available for high-value or time-sensitive shipments and takes 3 to 5 days. We coordinate freight forwarding from the European origin and provide shipment tracking through to destination port.
